A watershed quality is measured by its pollution rates in the air and water pollution levels and the waste in the water. According to the EPA the Lower Susuehanna watershed has reported 19 facilities that release air pollution into the watershed, 9 that release toxins, 44 that release hazardous waste, and 12 that are permitted to discharge water into the watershed(Envirofacts Warehouse).
The lower Susquehanna watershed also has many rivers that are tributaries to the Susquhanna river and that are part of the watershed.
